RARE & AUTHENTIC EARLY SIGNED HETCHEL COMB WITH ORIGINAL BOX LID

Here is a nice early primitive 19th c. flax hetchel comb. The original box cover still remains, which is typically missing. As there is no hanger hole present, this early utilitarian piece would have been used on a table top or bench.

The old attic surface that you see is completely original to the piece. It measures 21 inches long and was constructed with both square and rosehead nails, as shown. Well made and with a good design in mind, this hetchel steps up for a nice early form. In addition, in the final photograph, you can see the initials L.H. that was then carved to either indicate the maker or original owner.

Lancaster Pennsylvania origin.($150)
