RARE EARLY SIGNED & DATED SHAKER SEWING BOX

I am offering for your consideration an early signed and dated two tiered Shaker sewing box.

Upon lifting the top, you will find 8 pins that hold spools of thread, as well as a treen based pincushion on top. There is a drawer in the lower tier to hold other sewing implements.

As mentioned, this piece is signed and dated beneath the top. I have inspected the writing with a light and magnifying glass, and it appears to read "Boughliss,75 As, June 1846, William M.Goodwin".

It measures 7" wide x 6" deep (including the knob) x 7" tall (including the pincushion).

This piece is in very good condition with appropriate age. All of the thread pins, the ivory/bone? thread holes are present and in tact, as well as the 8 spires and 4 feet. The only apology is that a tiny piece is missing on the lid on the edge of the rear right hand spire. In no way is this detramental, in fact not a rare occurance.

Since dated, I will say this piece is Pre Civil War. It was found as part of a collection in New Oxford Pennsylvania, however originated out of New England.($250)
